What you said about the Parents and Carers Campaign

“The campaign has definitely given me the confidence to be more assertive in taking up parents and carers issues on behalf of members at work.

I feel better informed now than before the campaign started.

I know that pregnant women have the right to a risk assessment and that many parents have the right to collect their son or daughter from school if they are taken ill during the day.

These are important issues for our members and make a real difference to their day-to-day working lives.

Hayley Pickles, Mobile Learning Rep.

"This campaign has certainly helped to highlight the rights Parents and Carers currently have in my workplace.

My company has agreed far better maternity and paternity rights than those offered under the law.

In my opinion the campaign has helped to refocus attention on family friendly issues and put them at the centre of the bargaining agenda.

It's not just mothers that are better off but fathers have gained too.

I don't think it's any exaggeration to say that the campaign's made a real difference to parents and carers in Usdaw.

Graham Parkin, HGV Driver.
