Jobs in danger after Golden Wonder crash

Usdaw has stepped in to look after members at the Corby and Scunthorpe sites of once famous crisp-maker Golden Wonder which has gone into administration putting around 850 jobs in jeopardy.

Golden Wonder employed 350 staff in Corby, 380 in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, and 120 at its headquarters in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

The company has changed hands several times over the last few years and has struggled to compete with market leader Walkers.

In the latest development Irish firm Tayto confirmed it had bought the Pringles Mini brand which will see around 195 of the 350 staff at Corby remain on site working for the new owners. Other companies have also been linked with the rest of the business.
