What is Legal Plus?
Here are just a few of the benefits you get with Usdaw’s Legal Plus Service:
- This is the union's free legal service available to members the minute they join Usdaw.
- It offers advice and representation from lawyers who specialise in work-related cases.
- Members keep all of their compensation, with no hidden fees for insurance premiums, unlike many so-called 'no win no fee' companies.
- Or visit: www.usdaw.org.uk where you can also download the forms to help you apply for legal assistance.
- Legal Plus recovered more than £19.4 million in compensation for members and their families in 2005.
What you should do to make a claim
If you have an accident at work:
- Report it to management and enter it in the accident book as soon as you can.
- Seek medical attention as soon as possible.
- Speak to your local rep or ring your local office for advice.
- Fill in Legal Plus form BL1.
- Continue to pay your union subs.
Remember: Legal Plus also covers members for any accident - any time, any place - not just at work. It can also provide advice and assistance in road traffic accident cases for members' families, who share the same household.
