Join the debate and decide union policy
Trading hours, rights at work and pensions will dominate debate at this year’s Annual Delegate Meeting (ADM) – the union’s parliament. More than 2,000 delegates, visitors and officials will meet in the Winter Gardens, Blackpool for the 60th ADM.
Agency workers, health and safety and the national health service have also attracted a number of propositions from branches. These will be discussed and voted on during the four-day event to be held from April 30 until May 3.
Also on the preliminary agenda, mailed out to branch officers on January 23, are attendance policies, the national minimum wage, redundancies, and rest breaks. In total 95 propositions have been submitted and these are open to amendment by branches.
The new licensing laws also come under scrutiny as does the benefits system, care for the elderly, housing, taxation and international issues. The union's Supporting Parents and Carers campaign will have a specially timetabled slot at ADM.
Delegates will discuss and vote on all of these subjects and set the policy agenda for the union for the following year.
A number of top speakers from the world of politics and industrial relations will also be speaking at the ADM. Delegates and visitors will also have a number of fringe meetings, guest speakers and social events to entertain them after conference finishes at 5pm each day.
For more information on how you can get involved in this year's ADM contact your local office.
Bring the kids!
