Workers need the union

From Will Fitzgerald, Torbay PT A206.

Many thanks for sending me the regular union updates via e-mail and the Arena magazine - they help keep me fully informed.

It's good to see Usdaw in such a positive and dynamic mood. Although I'm relatively new to Usdaw I've spent more than 35 years in one trade union or another.

I work for a well-known chain where the workers only think about joining when they themselves come under individual threat. Too many staff are 'conned' in to thinking when the company say - it will look after them - everything will be fine. It won't!

Non-participative apathy rules. Morale can be quite low but thanks to Usdaw's efforts the union flag is flying. Keep up the good work. Good luck with the Supporting Parents and Carers campaign.
