Record breaking year for Legal Plus
Last year saw Usdaw’s Legal Plus service break its own record and recover more than £19 million for members injured or unfairly treated at work.
The record breaking year is further evidence of the importance of legal representation to union members following reports which have exposed 'no win no fee' deals as being riddled with hidden costs often leaving people with little or no compensation after deductions.
One in 27 union members take advantage of the service in one way or another but general secretary John Hannett believes Usdaw can offer even more for its reps and members. "Our service is far superior to any of the 'no win no fee deals' on offer," he said. "Any accident or injury at work, and any claim for unfair treatment should be channelled through Legal Plus."
