Usdaw recommends increase in National Minimum Wage

Usdaw has called on the Government’s Low Pay Commission to recommend an increase in the National Minimum Wage (NMW) to at least £5.35 an hour as part of next year’s increase.

In its written evidence to the commission, the union also argues the adult rate should be paid at 18 not at 22 as it is currently. The NMW went up in October this year to £4.85 an hour for workers aged 22 and over, for 18-21 year-olds it is £4.10 and £3 for 16/17 year-olds.
