Marie bows out after 25 years
Former North Eastern division Area Organiser Marie Glover, 57, took early retirement in June after 25 years on the union’s staff.
Marie began her Usdaw career at the Leeds office in 1978 when she was appointed secretary to the then Divisional Officer Noel Capindale.
She took up a course at Northern College two years later and continued on to university where she gained a degree in Organisational Studies.
Marie returned to Usdaw when she was appointed Area Organiser in 1986 and was based at the Leeds office.
"I've enjoyed working with the members and made some very good friends over the years," said Marie. "There have been a lot of new developments over the years and all in all I've had an interesting and varied career. As a union official, you never stop learning.
"I'm now putting my experience of employment law to good use by working part-time for the Citizens Advice Bureau and my love of yoga helps to keep me fit."
Divisional Officer Mike Brewer said: "Marie was a highly respected and highly regarded official in the North Eastern division. Her friends and colleagues all wish Marie a long and healthy retirement."
