Colin on the campaign frontline
Fresh from his appearance in the Respect magazine, union rep Colin Marriott attended his first black and Asian members weekend get-together and described it as ‘brilliant’.
"I expected more members to be there," said Colin. "But everyone took part and we were all made to feel very welcome. The workshops on the BNP were very informative and opened up many delegates' eyes. The stories we heard were shocking. It was very useful to listen to other people's experiences in the main group discussions.
"Like me, there were a lot of first time activists there and, despite being slightly apprehensive, we all got on very well. I'd definitely do it again."
Colin, a supervisor at the Tesco Morning Lane store in Hackney, London, has vigorously promoted the Freedom From Fear campaign, winning members' support and local press coverage. "The petition signing is going strong," he said. "The workforce has embraced it wholeheartedly and the campaign is keeping us busy in store. It's going really well."
