Supporting Parents and Carers Spotlight Day - Need a
Helping Hand? 21 March 2012
Usdaw Reps often help members who have been asked to change
their hours of work. This is probably one of the most common issues
that members ask for help with.
Over the last year there has been an increase in the number of
members being asked to vary their working hours. This is because of
changes in consumer spending and trading patterns. Companies may
need to change working patterns to respond to this.
Usdaw recognises that at times it may be necessary to change
someone’s hours of work. We want to ensure that any such changes
are reasonable and that members affected are fully consulted,
informed and supported throughout the process of hours being
changed. Where this happens, there is a better chance of any
variation in hours working for both the member and the company.
