Learning English helps in the workplace and outside.

It also gives people a chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications.

BBC Skills Wise covers all aspects of English through videos, exercises and quizzes. The site contains lots of useful English resources to use to develop your English knowledge.

BBC Education is aimed at young people but has lots of useful information and courses. It also provides advice on GCSE.

TUC eNotes offer self-contained modules on English such as “Read Now” and “Write Now”. They last between 20 and 45 minutes. You will need to register to use the site.

Wranx offers a range of bitesize app based repetition courses, a number of courses based around English, at functional skills and GCSE Level. Find out more.

Usdaw’s bitesize learning

Getting the tone right in writing is really tricky! And then there's the problem of which words to use for your audience. More Than Words is Usdaw's new bitesize course and can help you make your tone clear and pick the right words for the people you're writing to.

Are you vexed by verbs or pickled by pronunciation? Our bitesize course will help you get to grips with the quirks of the English language.

Summertime Songbirds’ is a short course using famous song titles or lines to help you learn some basic English rules and to avoid some of the common mistakes made with grammar. This course has been created with help from the Royal Literary Fund.

We also have another English bitesize course designed to improve your practical English skills. The course takes about ten minutes to complete. A Play on words.
