Cash Benefits The Union’s grants are governed by the Union’s Rule Book and this remains unchanged in the face of the current pandemic. A member will qualify for the sickness grant if their employer or GP can verify that they have been off with sickness. Production of the NHS 111 isolation note will also be accepted as evidence. Sickness Grants are only payable following 6 weeks continuous sickness leave. Sickness Grant* Permanent Disablement Grant Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Benefit Death Grant ** Dispute Benefit * Please note each Sickness Grant is a 'one-off' payment for the period stated and is NOT payable weekly. ** Please note any member who transferred onto the free life/super annuated Scale B rate of membership is entitled to a Death Grant of £210. Members and other payees will be requested to provide their bank account details for payment by bank transfer being the default method of payment. Payments are made within 30 days of receipt of the completed claim application by the Union’s Benefits Section. Benefits are payable in accordance with the Union rule book and any entitlement depends on paying your contributions regularly and not falling into arrears. Benefits can only be claimed (except dispute benefit) after 12 months' continuous membership.
