Running a Respect for Shopworkers Week event

Thanks for getting involved in Respect Week. With your help, we can make this year’s event the best yet.

To get started, choose from the event packs below to suit the type of event you want to run...

Organising a Public Stall

This is the most effective way to get involved in Respect Week and is an excellent way to engage the public with the campaign. Talk with your store manager about where and when to hold the stall, and arrange for people to cover the stall during the event.

Canteen Event

Not able to hold a public stall? Running a campaign event in your canteen is the next best thing. Talk to your manager to agree a day and time when there will be plenty of colleagues in the canteen for you to talk to about the campaign.

Respect Week ‘Lite’

This is a great option if you’re not able to hold a full stall and is ideal if you only have an hour to spare. Your pack will include plenty of materials to enable you to quickly and easily take part.

Whichever pack you choose, don’t forget to promote your event through your Union noticeboard, if you have one.

If this is your first time doing an event you might want to contact your Area Organiser through your local office on 0800 030 80 30 for advice. Further information can also be found in the Campaign Briefing.

You could also promote the event on social media. Share your pictures, let people know why you’re taking part, and help spread the message of Respect Week. Remember to use #Respect17 in your posts. You can find Usdaw on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and Instagram.
