Scottish Labour’s independent advisory board for economic growth welcomed by Usdaw 31 August 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed today’s announcement by Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar of plans to deliver a new economic growth strategy for Scotland, with an expert independent advisory board for economic growth. CPAG reveals disturbing evidence about migration onto Universal Credit - Usdaw joins calls for reform 31 August 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw is encouraging members to claim the social security benefits that they are entitled and to be cautious when being migrated from tax credits to Universal Credit. Today the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) has published research showing that more than a quarter of tax credit claimants have had their current benefits stopped and have not moved on to Universal Credit. Worrying 24% increase in shoplifting across England and Wales – Usdaw calls for retail crime to be taken seriously 20 July 2023 Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw is deeply concerned by today’s police recorded crime statistics for England and Wales showing that in the 12 months to March there was a 24% increase in shoplifting. This continues the trend of persistent quarterly increases after a dramatic decrease during the pandemic.
