Shoplifting up by 15% in the last decade - Usdaw calls on the Government to cut crime and protect shopworkers

Shopworkers’ trade union leader Paddy Lillis has called for Government action in light of the Office for National Statistics today reporting a 15% increase in police recorded incidents of shoplifting in England and Wales over the last decade. Theft from shops is a main trigger for violence, threats and abuse against shopworkers.

Race hate crime increases again - Usdaw says the shocking stats should be a wake-up call ahead of 'Wear Red Day'

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw is calling for concerted efforts to tackle hate crimes as today’s Home office figures show that police recorded incidents of race hate crime have jumped 11% over the last 12 months in England and Wales and overall hate crime is up by 10%.

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has today released shocking statistics from their annual survey which shows that an average Scottish shopworker is verbally abused, threatened or assaulted 17 times a year, which is more than once every three weeks.
