Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has backed a bid by Daniel Johnson MSP (Labour, Edinburgh Southern) to prevent violence, threats and abuse against shopworkers. The union has responded to the Economy, Energy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee’s consultation on the Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-restricted Goods and Services) (Scotland) Bill.

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has responded to Belfast City Council’s consultation on 'Sundays in the City' with an emphatic ‘no’ to longer Sunday trading hours. The union calls on the City Council to engage in an industrial strategy for the retail sector that involves local and national government, retailers and all key stakeholders working together.

Shoplifting up by 14% in the last decade - Usdaw calls on the Government to cut crime and protect shopworkers

Shopworkers’ trade union leader Paddy Lillis has called for Government action in light of the Office for National Statistics today reporting a 14% increase in police recorded incidents of shoplifting in England and Wales over the last decade. Theft from shops is a main trigger for violence, threats and abuse against shopworkers.
