The union is also calling on the Government to clarify their advice. JD Sports condemned by Usdaw for putting lives at risk and calls for their Rochdale warehouse to be temporarily closed 26 March 2020 Usdaw, the union for JD Sports’ staff, is calling on the company to close their Rochdale warehouse to protect 5,000 staff and the wider Rochdale community from coronavirus. Usdaw raises concerns over Government calls for online retail to be 'run as normal' while advising the population to 'stay at home' 25 March 2020 The most recent up-to-date guidance from the Government states that, ‘Online retail is still open and encouraged and postal and delivery service will run as normal.’ Only yesterday the Government advice was that ‘non-essential businesses and premises must now shut.’ Sainsbury's to close some convenience stores to provide support in their supermarkets - Usdaw is supporting members at this difficult time 25 March 2020 Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has been briefed by Sainsbury’s that the business is under huge operational pressure as unprecedented customer demand continues in their supermarkets. Due to this demand, they have taken the decision to temporarily close some of our convenience stores.
