Sainsbury’s announces a restructure of cafés, bakeries and counters – Usdaw is supporting affected members

Date: 01 March 2022 Retail trade union Usdaw has been briefed by Sainsbury’s about their proposals to change café, bakery and counter services in over 200 stores that will impact around 2,000 staff. Usdaw is the largest union in Sainsbury’s and reps will now engage in localised discussions.
Dave Gill – Usdaw National Officer says: “This is devastating news for our members affected by Sainsbury’s proposals. Usdaw’s local reps and officials will now engage in talks with store managers, where they will be looking at the business case for the company’s planned changes.

“Usdaw’s priorities are to keep as many staff employed in the business and achieve the best deal possible for those affected. In the meantime we are providing our members with the support, advice and representation they need at this difficult time.”
