Asda now has a more certain future - Usdaw will work with the new owners to secure jobs in Northern Ireland

Date: 02 October 2020 Usdaw is the trade union for Asda workers in Northern Ireland. The union welcomes today’s confirmation of the sale of Asda to EG Group from Walmart, after years of uncertainty, and looks forward to working with the new owners to grow the business and secure jobs.
Kieran Smyth – Usdaw Area Organiser says: “Securing the future of the company under new owners is welcome news for Asda workers in Northern Ireland, after years of uncertainty. This has been a worrying time for our members, particularly after the merger with Sainsbury’s was blocked by the Competition and Markets Authority last year.

“Our initial contact with company has been positive. We look forward to working with the new owners to grow the business and secure jobs of our members.”
