Sainsbury's pay deal and contractual changes move to the individual consultation stage

Date: 24 May 2018 The group consultation stage on the Sainsbury’s pay deal and contractual changes has now concluded, the process now moves on to individual consultations with members of staff.

Joanne McGuinness - Usdaw National Officer says: “Usdaw has engaged with Sainsbury’s in an extensive consultation over the pay deal and contractual changes. We are pleased to have moved the company on some elements, but we remain concerned that 7% of staff will not benefit from what is a substantial pay rise for the vast majority. Some staff could be worse-off after the 18 months of top-up payments end in March 2020 and we will continue in talks with the company to try to mitigate that issue. We now start a period of individual consultations with staff, Usdaw reps will be supporting our members through that process and we will be writing to all our members to confirm the improvements reached during consultations.”
