The proposal maintains the current number of roles within the organisation, but means around 100 staff will be asked to relocate from their existing workplaces in: Chessington, Croydon, Exeter, Hinckley, Leeds, Letchworth, Livingston, Newcastle, Preston and Swansea.
Daniel Adams – Usdaw National Officer says: “This is clearly upsetting news for staff within the customer service operation and it is a concern that this announcement follows so shortly after the company proposed to close its health and beauty operation in South Normanton and relocate their Livingston site to Coatbridge.
“Usdaw will now engage in a collective consultation process where we will look closely at the business case for these proposals. Our priorities are to protect jobs and secure the best possible deal for our members, particularly for those who are unable to relocate.
“In the meantime we are providing the support, advice and representation our members need at the difficult time.”
