The shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw is celebrating 125 years of improving working lives and winning for members. Part of the celebrations is a nationwide bus tour that continues in the South of England from today (12 - 16 July).
John Hannett – Usdaw General Secretary says: “We are very proud of our 125 year history, but this bus tour also focuses on the future, promoting the work of the union to the general public and encouraging workers to protect themselves by joining up.
“The Usdaw campaign bus is touring the UK from June to mid-August, visiting town centres and workplaces across the country. We hope it will help people gain a better understanding of our campaigning work and the role we have in modern workplaces to get a better deal for our members.”
The campaign bus schedule in the South of England is:
- Tuesday 12 July: Basingstoke Tesco Extra, Chineham
- Wednesday 13 July: Portsmouth Tesco Extra, Fratton
- Thursday 14 July: Portsmouth Town Centre, Commercial Road
- Friday 15 July: Southampton, Sainsbury Hedge End / Retail Park
- Saturday 16 July: Bognor Regis, Sainsbury
