Usdaw is seeking urgent talks with the Co-op over uncertainty in their farms and pharmacy businesses

Date: 28 February 2014 Following press reports, Co-op Group has confirmed that it has started a process that is expected to lead to the sale of its farming operation.

It is also looking at options for the future of its Pharmacy business which could include the sale in whole or part of the business.

Usdaw is seeking urgent talks with the business regarding the impact to our members in the Farms and Pharmacy businesses.

Usdaw urges Co-op Group to seriously consider the long term implications of any decision which sees it disposing of important businesses as taking that route will have an enormous impact on both the future of the Group as the county’s largest member-owned organisation and to its hardworking employees as well as the communities they serve.

We will also seek clarification regarding the financial state the business is reportedly in.

Usdaw will do everything possible to support and assist members during this period of uncertainty and will ensure that they are kept informed of all developments.
