A vacancy exists for a Deputy Head of Education and Training in the Education Department based at the Union’s Head Office in Manchester.

The salary for this post is £52,453 pa and the successful applicant will possess a valid driving licence and live within 50 miles of their office base.

Principal duties are: to participate in the strategic direction and development of the department; to develop, prepare and conduct training programmes; to develop and improve the Union's educational provision for members, reps, officials and staff; to assist in the management and development of staff in the department and deputise for the Head of Education and Training in their absence.
The successful applicant will possess: a teaching qualification at an appropriate level (such as Certificate of Education) or the commitment and ability to work towards one; a degree or relevant teaching experience in the trade union field; the ability to develop original training resources, use a variety of training methods, and be able to respond to members' varying training needs; the ability to motivate and manage staff; the ability to communicate effectively; the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
There are no set hours for this position and the postholder will be expected to be adaptable to meet the needs of the service, which could include travel over a wide geographical area and overnight stays.
