Respect for Shopworkers Week

Date: 13 - 19 November 2017 Location: Nationwide

Shocking research reveals that every minute of the working day another shopworker is verbally abused, threatened with violence or physically attacked.

As part of Usdaw’s Freedom From Fear campaign, every year Reps from across the country organise Respect for Shopworkers Week events.

The current theme of Respect for Shopworkers Week is ‘Keep Your Cool’ and encourages the public to remember that despite the stresses of the Christmas shopping period, there is never an excuse for abuse or violence.

These events can take the form of a Rep spending an hour talking to colleagues about the serious issues of violence and abuse, an event in a canteen engaging with staff about that year’s campaign aims, a stall at the front of the store talking about the campaign with customers, or a stall on a local high street taking the campaign out to the public.

We hope that you are able to help. For further information please do not hesitate to contact Ruth or Michael in the Politics Office on 0161 249 2452.
